Project Update, October 3, 2024: The results are in! Thank you to everyone for sharing your thoughts on the proposed designs for the Year One Routes. Click here to read the report!

Staff will be analyzing the feedback from the community to complete the designs for the Boyd Street corridor. Stay tuned for more updates!

The Boyd Street corridor in Queensborough is 1.5 km. The proposed improvements will upgrade the existing multi-use pathway (for walking, cycling and rolling) between Howes Street and the Queensborough Bridge. The multi-use pathway will make it safer and easier to access commercial services and retail stores from residential areas to the southeast. Boyd Street is part of TransLink’s Major Bikeway Network, which connects the region for active transportation users.

The intersection of Boyd and Howes streets has been identified as one of the City’s top safety concerns for people on foot and bike. The proposed improvements will remove right turn traffic islands on the north side of Howes Street to provide a safer roadway crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.

(Click on the images below to view a larger version)

1. Additional lighting on the existing multi-use pathway between Boundary Road and Howes Street.

2. Construct a multi-use pathway on the north side of Boyd Street between Howes Street and the Queensborough Bridge:

  • Provides a safer, accessible path for pedestrians, cyclists and people using mobility devices.
  • Keeps vulnerable road users physically separated from vehicles and trucks.

3. Boyd and Howes Street intersection removal of the north side, right-turn islands:

  • Provides safer, accessible crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Increases comfort for pedestrians and cyclists by reducing crossing distance.

We want to hear from you!

We are gathering feedback from people who live, work and use active transportation networks along the Boyd Street corridor. How can you get involved?
