Townhouse Accelerator Discussion

The City is considering zoning changes that could allow townhouses in more areas of New West, allow greater density of townhouse units, and/or allow multiple units within townhouses (i.e. lock-off suites or secondary suites).

Does the feedback from Infill Housing Phase 1 engagement in 2022 still reflect your sentiments about townhouses in New West? Are there other priorities you would like to highlight?

 

Participants shared overall support for allowing more townhouses and rowhouses, and that the following are important planning considerations when implementing townhouse developments:

  • liveability,
  • traffic, 
  • parking,
  • infrastructure and services,
  • proximity to transit, services, and amenities,
  • regulations and approval processes,
  • financial viability of development,
  • sensitivity to neighbourhood context.
